Reflection...
Our last class was very interesting and important. I can said that it was best one. During last class we had a debate and the topic was "Copper mining in Syunik". Our group and also our guests AUA MA students divided into 4 groups. First one was "Mining Company", second one "Activists", third "Villagers" and fourth "Government". I was member of "Mining Company".
At stage 1 we have 3 important points and then "Activists" said their objections, also "Government" and "Villagers" gave questions. Then at stage 2 "Activists" said their 3 important points and we said our objections, also "Government" and "Villagers" gave questions. At stage 3 "Mining Company","Activists" and "Villagers" conclude all. And after it government said his decision. The government said that we allowed to open only one factory and if that factory will be good for everyone, they will think about future.
I like our debate very much, it was great. Also MA students like our "Mining Company", they said that our points and our speech was good.
We continued our class and in second part we poke about littering, recycling, reusing and reducing. We also watched video about sustainable management and read text "Recycling in Armenia".

That’s what Friends are for…
A full- time shoulder to cry on?
You usually
say about a good friend, “He is a devoted friend. He will never let me down or
betray me.” It’s really important to rely on a friend, but devotion is not the
only feature we need in friendship. If you want it to be long- lasting you
should have common interests with your friends, you shouldn’t be boring or
tactless, selfish or touchy, greedy or cunning. With these features you remain
friendless.
There has
to be more to friendship. There are times in everybody’s life when you need the
firm but gentle shoulder of your best friend.
No-one is
saying that you should only love your friends when they are up, and cross the
street to avoid them when they are down. But when you are doing all the giving
and your friend just taking, it’s time to weigh it up.

Reflection...
Our last class was interesting because we had
interesting topic. It was about Nauru. This is island and located in the South
Pacific Ocean. Nauru is not in good situation, because people used it as mines.
And now Nauru’s population needs help.
We also read and discussed Kare Sheppard’s report,
about Nauru and its problems.
We also discussed 4 posters. There were very nice and informative. After
that in groups we make our poster. We make poster about Nauru and I like it
very much.

Luxury or necessity…
What is
the difference between luxury and necessity? Some people think that if
something is expensive it’s mean that it is good one. People buy expensive items as luxuries to show
something someone. But if you really need something and it is necessary for you
there is no matter it is expensive or not.
And where
is the border between luxury and necessity? That border between luxury and
necessity is the different socioeconomic status. For example, college students,
university students, professors, managers, supervisors, businessmen.
Businessman or supervisor can buy expensive items but college student or
university student can’t.
But now luxuries have become a necessity, for
example cell phones, televisions, computers. Our generation born
and saw television in our houses and now television is necessity to have.
But nowadays television has become a luxury.
Everyone wants the best television, the biggest television. Or cell phones,
Cell phones have also become a necessity over time. There are many different reasons for needing a cell
phone these days. But technologies developed and everyone want new one, smart
one, big one and it became a luxury. And the same thing with computers…

Last time we had interesting and
informative class. We watched documentary film about Aral Sea and learned many
things connected with it.
In
1948 Aral was much bigger than it is now. In the last 60 years,
Aral shrinked. The shrinking of Aral Sea is
one of the planet's worst environmental disasters. And now Aral Sea is in horrible situation,
that's why climate has changed.
Then we read text about our Sevan Lake and also
watched video about fresh water resources. Sevan Lake has an
important role in Armenia. Sevan is the
largest lake in Armenia and one of the largest freshwater lakes in the world.

Should school be wired to the internet...?
Some scientists say "All kids, not just ones from families that can buy a home computer, should grow with a mouse in their hands".
Yes, it's important to the way kids learn because today communications and information technology are changing our economy and our society, the way we live, the way we work and the way we communicate with each other. Jobs in information technology are better paid than non-technology jobs.
The computer skills become important as soon as children begin to learn. Children enjoy learning, develop better writing and communicate easily. I think that all children must have a chance to learn.
"No, learn first, surf later", says professor of computer science David Galernter.
Surfing is great way to gather information and communicate. But it would be wrong to net-connect every school. For example in America their schools are in crisis. Their kids do not want to master the basic skills. The result is that their students can't write well, lack basic math and language skills.
While the Internet is full of useful information, it is also full of garbage, which destroy young people today.

Forest ecosystem
Our classes about ecology
are very interesting and our first topic is forest ecosystem. First of all we learn what forest ecosystem
is, what it includes, and
what role do organisms play in a forest ecosystem, food webs and food chains.
Than we watch BBC documentary film about forest ecosystem.
I got lot of
information from class, from text and from documentary film. They were very interesting
and informative.
The name of that movie was “The Magical Forest”
which was the main idea of that film. I saw many events in magical forest. It gave
me information about flying squirrels, lynxes, salmons, bears and also about
many animals which live in forest and about the connection between them . I also
saw weather changing and its results.
I like it because I
got more knowledge about that topic and also learned many new words connected
with ecology, forest ecosystem. I also like our group works which help us to understand
all correctly.

The world would be a better place if
everyone spoke the same language…
According
to biblical legend, the people of Babylon started to build a tower reaching up
to heaven. And in this legend there are
some obvious connections among languages. It is very nice to think about the
days before Babel, when everybody spoke exactly the same way.
Now there are over 6000 languages in the world which are divided into different language families. It will be good or bad that everyone spoke the same language and after that world would be a better place or not.
In my opinion it is not good idea that everyone spoke the same language because after that world would be a better place. Having only one language is hard or maybe even impossible.
There are
many reasons first of all culture and nationality. Each country must have its
language, if there is no language, there is no country. Without a language,
countries have no culture, no nationality, and cannot be considered a country.
Language cannot be forgotten or removed because language is main point, the
most important part of a country, nationality. When everyone spoke the same
language, it would look like the whole world is of one nationality. For example
in ancient time when most languages came from Africa, which might be the
birthplace of the mother language there were no country, no culture, and
nationality.
The variety in the literature can destroyed, many great persons who tried to develop the literature of their culture would never trace their names in the history. And if there are no literature that mean that they cannot live better then nowadays.
The life could be so boring because an important aspect of it, I mean
trying to learn other languages would never exist.
Finally countries will be similar and the world would
Finally countries will be similar and the world would
not be better place. The same
language will make many problems.

Forest
ecosystems
What is a forest ecosystem?
At firs what is ecosystem. An ecosystem is a community of
living organisms (plants, animals, birds, mammals, marsupials, amphibians, insects,
moss, fungi, reptiles and microbes) in
conjunction with the nonliving
components of
their environment (things like air, water and mineral soil).
There are many example of a forest ecosystem which we
can call types. The different types of forest are: tropical rainforest,
mediterranean, coniferous, and temperate forest, tropical, montane, and
plantation forest.
One type is the river red gum forest of south-western
NSW or Australian forest ecosystem which includes moss and Murray’s skink.
Non-living things can be called “Abiotic” and living
organisms are often called “Biotic”.
What role do organisms play in a forest ecosystem?
In a forest ecosystem there are 3 types of organisms. Herbivores -herbivores
are animals that only eat plants. Camivores- camivores are animals that only
eat meat. Omnivores – omnivores are animals that eat both plants and meat.
A community
of organisms which live in a forest ecosystem are connected with each other and
this relationship is food web. Food web consist of similar food chains. For example
animals cannot
convert sunlight to energy, so are dependent on the plants and trees to do this
through the process of photosynthesis. In photosynthesis, sunlight energy is
converted to simple sugars in plants, the type of organisms known as the
‘producers’. Also there is another type which called ‘predators’, that is
animals that hunt and prey on smaller animals for a source of food. For example
Tailed Eagle is a predator to the Tawny Frogmouth Owl, its ‘prey’.

"Corruption refers
to a lack of integrity or honesty (especially susceptibility to bribery) and
the use of a position of trust for dishonest gain"
Corruption is one of the bad things in business.
Corruption is a lack of integrity or honesty.
Corruption is the misuse of public power for private gain.
We know that in Armenia not all businesses work honest and there is
corruption. But when we comparing with other countries there are more
corruption than in our small country.
«Transparency International» make list of corrupt
countries in the world. The most corrupt
countries are Somalia, Afghanistan, Iraq, Myanmar, Turkmenistan, Uzbekistan,
Sudan and Chad. The least corrupt countries are Norway, Switzerland, Australia,
Netherlands, Canada, Sweden, Finland, Denmark, New Zealand and Singapore. Actually
Denmark is the happiest country for life and the best place to do business. We understood
that Corruption in Armenia is in middle level.
There is also another
form of corruption when jobs are given to friends or relatives. In our country it is. Simple example
when you go to enter for work you must give bribe or you must have friend or relatives
for getting good job and good wage.
I don’t know why it is like that, the main reason but I think that consequences can’t be good. Because when you take your friend or relative they can’t work like who study how to work.
Let’s imagine that I am boss of large company or government ministry and my friends, relatives want to get a job. Of course I won’t give them any job in my company. First of all it is the violation of ethics, secondly if they aren't clever or don’t understand that job like another workers they can’t work in my company because it is bad for my company, for my business. Otherwise I will help them with money.

Business and advertisement connected with each other. Business can’t be without
advertisement
because people know about that company for example about that super market,
mall or any product with help of advertisement. Advertisement is really good
way for business because there are many types of advertising for example poster,
TV commercial, Internet, side of bus and people will know that from different
sides. Also advertising is good for rebate, people know and go there to find
product that they want and by it with low price.
Armenian advertisements are at middle level and develop day by day. What about ethics of advertising it develop too, even there
are advertisings which done with high standard like all international
advertisings. But in Armenia not all companies do advertising, mostly clots shops
with their new collections and rebates, supermarkets with their daily rebates,
boom prices, cars with their new models, bank with their programs, credit projects, cinemas with
new films, different companies with their products, mobile operators with their new offers and projects, medicine, TV market, nowadays
also funded pension system advertisements.
Nowadays in Armenia online shopping, internet shops which are type of business and based on advertisement are spread and popular among young people.
Today people
getting flyers and random phone calls from companies advertising their products
which are sometimes irritating, annoying or informative. What about me I don’t
like this type of advertising. But flyers are more interesting than phone calls.
Phone calls are irritating because at first maybe you are busy and they disturb
you and at second there is no truth because many companies call and said not
true things.
